MailTack Philosophy
-----------------------------
The philosophy behind MailTack is a specific view on knowledge management. As far as there is knowledge in mail text, we have the problem to find the text that contains what we are looking for. There a two ways to handle this problem. One way is after the event, you search with a intelligent searchmachine in more or less unorganised text. The other way is before the event, you organise the text, so that you later can find what you are looking for. MailTack supports the second way.
Why? The development of intelligent searchmachine is not so easy, isn't it?. On the other side the person that is looking for a specific text normaly is quite intelligent, why not use his intelligence?. But the main reason lies much deepper. Any person who organise his mails (and other text) with a tool like MailTake becomes aware about what she knows. With this awareness the knowledge becomes more efficient and more ef ectiv.
There is another important reason. As far as knowledge is bound on a person, the preson herself creates or construct his knowledge. Therefore different person have different knowledge, differnt strategies to organise and to refind it. MailTack suports the management on this individual level. Last but not least, a user of MailTack becomes arware of the subjectivity of his own knowledge and realize that other people have other knowledge.
Knowledge management on a interpersonell level supposes people that knows that there is profit in knowledge oriented work. This expirence people can get with MailTack.
Why to concern on mails ?
Mails are often artifacts of complex communications in wich different people argue in different orders about different subjects. Much more than in normal letters or reports the knowledge ist divided in different related pieces of text. Therefore to organize mails promise a great benefit, because otherwise a lot of actual knowledge is lost. And reverse, if one is able to manage the complex mail knowledge, one shall be able to manage better organized texts too.
